Transmission (e-CVT) Removal and Installation: Installation

WARNING:

The power cables carry high voltage when the electric powertrain system is energized. To avoid serious injury from electrical shock, do not turn on the system with the power cables disconnected.

The electric powertrain components are located in this area. The electric powertrain is a high-voltage system. You must be familiar with the electric powertrain system before working on or around it. Make sure you have read the electric powertrain service precautions before doing repairs or service .

NOTE: 

  1. Transfer Assembly - Install (If Necessary)
  2. Bracket - Install

  3. Dowel Pin - Install

    NOTE:  Refer to the Exploded View as needed during this procedure.

  4. Flywheel - Install

    NOTE:  Do not wipe off the special grease applied to the spline (A).

  5. Transmission (e-CVT) - Install

    1. Place the transmission (e-CVT) (A) on a transmission jack, then raise it to the engine level.

    NOTE:  Be careful not to drop the flywheel.

    2. Attach the transmission (e-CVT) to the engine.

  6. Lower Transmission (e-CVT) Mounting Bolt - Install

    NOTE:  Refer to the Exploded View as needed during this procedure.

  7. Radiator Inlet Pipe A - Install
  8. ATF Hose (Transmission Side) - Connect 
  9. Ground Cable - Connect

  10. Propeller Shaft - Install
  11. Intermediate Shaft - Install
  12. Driveshaft Inboard Joint - Connect (Both Sides)
  13. Front Subframe - Support

    1. Support the front subframe (A) with a transmission jack (B).
  14. Front Subframe - Install
  15. Front Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Connect (Both Sides)
  16. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect (Both Sides)
  17. Lower Arm Mounting Bolt - Install (Both Sides)

    1. Install both sides of the front lower arm mounting bolt to the body .
  18. Lower Arm - Connect (Both Sides)
  19. Lower Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install
  20. Connectors (EPS Motor/Control Unit) - Connect
  21. Drive Plate - Connect

    1. Attach the drive plate (A) to the flywheel with eight flywheel bolts (B).

    NOTE:  There are eight flywheel bolts.

    2. Rotate the crankshaft pulley as necessary to tighten the bolt to half of the specified torque, then to the final torque, in a crisscross pattern.

    3. Check that the crankshaft rotates freely.

    4. Install the torque converter cover (C).

  22. Exhaust Pipe A - Install
  23. Vehicle - Lower
  24. Upper Transmission (e-CVT) Mounting Bolt - Install

    NOTE:  Refer to the Exploded View as needed during this procedure.

  25. Transmission Mount - Loosely Install
  26. Engine Support Hanger - Remove

    1. Remove the engine support hanger and the sub hanger stay.

    2. Install the hood open stay bracket (A).

    3. Install the radiator cap base .

    4. Install the front damper caps.

  28. CMP Sensor A - Install
  29. Harness Cover - Install

  30. Engine Wire Harness - Install

  31. Steering Joint - Connect
  32. PCU - Install
  33. Center Cowl Cover - Install
  34. Windshield Wiper Arm - Install
  35. Front Bulkhead Cover - Install
  36. Service Plug - Turn On
  37. 12 Volt Battery Base - Install
  38. 12 Volt Battery - Install
  39. PCU Coolant - Refill
  40. ATF - Refill
  41. Engine Undercover - Install
  42. Front Wheel - Install (Both Sides)
  43. Wheel Alignment - Check
  44. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
  45. Motor Rotor Position - Calibrate
  46. Vehicle - Test-Drive

    NOTE:  Before test drive, turn the vehicle to the ON mode and shift the transmission to each shift position/mode, and wait for at least 1 seconds to each position/mode. Make sure to be able to select each shift position.
