Rearview camera image does not come on

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

NOTE: 

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    Does the display image change to rearview when the transmission is shifted to R position/mode?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO: Display audio type

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

    NO: Color audio type

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 5.

  2. System Diagnostic Mode check

    -1. Shift the transmission to P position/mode.

    Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the Rear Wide Camera icon status.

    Is the Rear Camera icon green?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO: With navigation

    Go to Navigation Unit DTC 2608 (R-Camera Diag) troubleshooting .

    NO: Without navigation

    Go to Audio Unit DTC 2608 (R-Camera Diag) troubleshooting .

  3. Determine possible failure area (BACK_LT line, others):

    Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Vehicle Status to check the BACK signal;

    -2. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    Does the BACK signal change from [0] to [1] when the transmission is shifted from P position/mode to R position/mode?

    YES 

    Go to step 12.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (BACK_LT line)

    -1. Shift the transmission to P position/mode.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    -6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation) No. 15
      Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation) No. 15
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES: with navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    YES: without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire.

  5. In Line Diag check

    -1. Shift the transmission to P position/mode.

    -2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the In Line Diag to check the rearview camera connection .

    Does the Rear Camera indicate OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Determine possible failure area (CAMERA_ADPT line, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Rearview camera 8P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Rearview camera 8P connector No. 6
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there about 5.0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Go to step 7.

  7. Open wire check (CAMERA_ADPT line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (32P) No. 16
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there about 5.0 V?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .

  8. Determine possible failure area (rearview camera, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Rearview camera 8P connector No. 5
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the rearview camera .

    NO 

    Go to step 9.

  9. Open wire check (SH_CAMERA line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (32P) No. 28
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  10. Determine possible failure area (B-CAN lines, others)

    -1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the MICU_ICU in the Vehicle Information to check the BACK signal .

    -2. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    Does the C_BACKLTSW signal change from [0] to [1] when the transmission is shifted from P position/mode to R position/mode?

    YES 

    Go to step 12.

    NO 

    Go to step 11.

  11. Open wire check (B-CAN_H line, B-CAN_L line)

    -1. Shift the transmission to P position/mode.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Body control module connector B (36P)
    Audio unit connector A (24P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Body control module connector B (36P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector A (24P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Body control module connector B (36P) No. 20
    Test point 2 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 14
    Test point 1 Body control module connector B (36P) No. 21
    Test point 2 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 24

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire(s).

  12. Shorted wire check (CAMERA_VCC, CAMERA_GND, CAMERA_V, CAMERA_V_GND lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)
    Rearview camera 8P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between the following test points and body ground individually.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
    Connector Terminal
    Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)

    No. 13
    No. 14
    No. 29
    No. 30

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The CAMERA_VCC, CAMERA_GND, CAMERA_V, and CAMERA_V_GND wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 13.

    NO 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  13. Shorted wire check (CAMERA lines)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1:Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)

    Test point 2:Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)

    No. 13 No. 14, No. 28, No. 29, No. 30
    No. 14 No. 28, No. 29, No. 30
    No. 28 No. 29, No. 30
    No. 29 No. 30

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more between any of the terminals?

    YES 

    The CAMERA wires are not shorted in the wires. Go to step 14.

    NO 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  14. Open wire check (CAMERA_VCC, CAMERA_GND, CAMERA_V, CAMERA_V_GND lines)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Rearview camera 8P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1:Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)

    Test point 2:Rearview camera 8P connector
    No. 13 No. 2
    No. 14 No. 8
    No. 29 No. 7
    No. 30 No. 1

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The CAMERA_VCC, CAMERA_GND, CAMERA_V, and CAMERA_V_GND wires are OK. Go to step 15.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  15. Voltage check (CAMERA_VCC line)

    -1. Reconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation)
    Rearview camera 8P connector

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (32P) (with navigation) No. 13
      Audio unit connector C (32P) (without navigation) No. 13
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there about 8.0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 16.

    NO: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    NO: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

  16. Rearview camera check (substitution)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Substitute a known-good rearview camera , and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original rearview camera .

    NO: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    NO: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .
