Removal and Installation: Procedure

  1. Expansion Valve - Remove

    1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system .

    2. Remove the expansion valve.

  2. Electric Heater Coolant Pump - Remove

    1. Drain the engine coolant .

    2. Remove the engine undercover .

    3. Remove the electric heater coolant pump.

    Note for installation 

    • Make sure the hose clamp is positioned as shown.
    • Make sure the hose clamp is in the position of its range shown.
    • Make sure that there is no engine coolant leakage.

  3. Electric A/C Compressor - Remove

    1. Before removing the electric A/C compressor, do the following procedures:

    2. Remove the front engine undercover .

    3. Remove the electric A/C compressor.

    Note for installation 

    • Do not install the electric A/C compressor into a system unless you are completely sure that the system is free of contamination. Installing the electric A/C compressor into a contaminated system can result in premature electric A/C compressor failure. Refer to A/C System Contamination Inspection .
    • To avoid contamination, do not return the oil to the container once dispensed, and never mix it with other refrigerant oils.
    • If you are installing a new electric A/C compressor, you must calculate the amount of refrigerant oil to be removed from it . A new electric A/C compressor comes with a full charge of oil.
  4. Electric A/C Compressor Relief Valve - Remove

    1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system .

    2. Remove the front engine undercover lid .

    3. Remove the electric A/C compressor relief valve.

  5. A/C Condenser - Remove

    1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system .

    2. Remove the shutter grille .

    3. Remove the A/C condenser.

    Note for installation  If you are installing a new A/C condenser, add the appropriate refrigerant oil for the electric A/C compressor which installed to the vehicle .

  6. Desiccant - Remove

    1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system

    2. Remove the A/C condenser.

    3. Remove the desiccant.

    Note for installation 

  7. A/C Pressure Sensor - Remove

    1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system .

    2. Remove the A/C pressure sensor.

    NOTE:  Hold the A/C pressure sensor block with a wrench to prevent damaging the discharge hose, then remove and install the A/C pressure sensor.

  8. Outside Air Temperature Sensor - Remove

    1. Remove the front bumper .

    2. Remove the outside air temperature sensor.
