DTC B2983, DTC screen B-B6, or DTC screen 57  : A problem in the recirculation control motor circuit, linkage, door, or motor

DTC (AC)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

   -2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.

   -3. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS or the climate control unit .

   -4. Check for DTCs.

   B2983 A problem in the recirculation control motor circuit, linkage, door, or motor

   Is DTC B2983, Error on the DTC screen B-B6 (climate control panel without display), or DTC screen 57 (climate control panel with display) indicated?

   YES 

   The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure. Check for loose wires or poor connections on the recirculation control motor circuit.

2. Open wire check (M-REC line)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

   Climate control unit connector B (24P)

   Recirculation control motor 5P connector

   -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
   	Recirculation control motor 5P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 17
   Test point 2	Recirculation control motor 5P connector (female terminals) No. 5:

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The M-REC wire is not open. Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the M-REC wire.

3. Open wire check (M-FRS line)

   -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
   	Recirculation control motor 5P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 18
   Test point 2	Recirculation control motor 5P connector (female terminals) No. 4:

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The M-FRS wire is not open. Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the M-FRS wire.

4. Shorted wire check (M-REC line)

   -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
   	Recirculation control motor 5P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 17
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there 1 MΩ or more?

   YES 

   The M-REC wire is OK. Go to step 5.

   NO 

   Repair a short to body ground in the M-REC wire.

5. Shorted wire check (M-FRS line)

   -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
   	Recirculation control motor 5P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 18
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there 1 MΩ or more?

   YES 

   The M-FRS wire is OK. Go to step 6.

   NO 

   Repair a short to body ground in the M-FRS wire.

6. Recirculation control motor check

   -1. Test the recirculation control motor .

   Is the recirculation control motor OK?

   YES 

   Replace the climate control unit .

   NO 

   Replace the recirculation control motor , or repair the recirculation control linkage or door.
