DTC B1241 (D-A1), B1241 (59)

DTC B1241, DTC screen D-A1, or DTC screen 59  : A problem in the blower motor circuit

DTC Description DTC
B1241 A problem in the blower motor circuit  

DTC (AC)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.

    -3. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS or the climate control unit .

    -4. Check for DTCs.

    B1241 A problem in the blower motor circuit  

    Is DTC B1241, Error on the DTC screen D-A1 (climate control panel without display), or DTC screen 59 (climate control panel with display) indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure. Check for loose wires or poor connections on the blower motor circuit.

  2. Fuse check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. A3-1

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse, and recheck. If fuse blows again, repair a short in the No. A3-1 fuse circuit.

  3. Blower motor power circuit check

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Blower motor 2P connector

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Blower motor 2P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Blower motor 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Go to step 12.

  4. Blower motor operation check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Reconnect the blower motor 2P connector.

    -3. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Blower motor 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    Terminal B Body ground

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    Does the blower motor run at high speed?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Replace the blower motor .

  5. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Remove the jumper wire from the blower motor 2P connector.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power transistor 4P connector

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power transistor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Power transistor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 2:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Check for an open in the GND wire. If the wire is OK, check for poor ground at G251.

  6. Open wire check (BLW-M line)

    -1. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Power transistor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1:

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    Does the blower motor run at high speed?

    YES 

    The BLW-M wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the BLW-M wire.

  7. Shorted wire check (BLW-V line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Remove the jumper wire from the power transistor 4P connector.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Climate control unit connector B (24P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
    Power transistor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 12
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The BLW-V wire is not shorted. Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the BLW-V wire.

  8. Shorted wire check (BLW-G line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
    Power transistor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 11
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The BLW-G wire is not shorted. Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the BLW-G wire.

  9. Open wire check (BLW-V line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
    Power transistor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 12
    Test point 2 Power transistor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 3:

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The BLW-V wire is OK. Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the BLW-V wire.

  10. Open wire check (BLW-G line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Climate control unit connector B (24P): disconnected
    Power transistor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Climate control unit connector B (24P) No. 11
    Test point 2 Power transistor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4:

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The BLW-G wire is OK. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the BLW-G wire.

  11. Power transistor check

    -1. Test the power transistor .

    Is the power transistor OK?

    YES 

    Replace the climate control unit .

    NO 

    Replace the power transistor .

    NOTE:  If the power transistor is faulty, check the blower motor for damage. If necessary, replace the blower motor .

  12. Front blower motor relay check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Remove the front blower motor relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box, and test it .

    Is the relay OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 13.

    NO 

    Replace the front blower motor relay.

  13. Open wire check (+B_HTR_MTR line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Front blower motor relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 Front blower motor relay 4P socket (female terminals) No. 1:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The +B_HTR_MTR wire is OK. Go to step 14.

    NO 

    Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box .

  14. Open wire check (IG2_A/C line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Front blower motor relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 Front blower motor relay 4P socket (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The IG2_A/C wire is OK. Go to step 15.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the IG2_A/C wire.

  15. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Front blower motor relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 Front blower motor relay 4P socket (female terminals) No. 4:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the BLOWER MTR/BLW-RLY(OUT) wire between the front blower motor relay and the blower motor.

    NO 

    Check for an open in the GND wire. If the wire is OK, check for poor ground at G351.
