DTC B1228 (A-A2), B1228 (06)

DTC B1228, or DTC screen A-A2, or DTC screen 06  : A short in the outside air temperature sensor circuit

B1228 A short in the outside air temperature sensor circuit  

DTC (AC)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.

    -3. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS or the climate control unit .

    -4. Check for DTCs.

    DTC Description DTC
    B1228 A short in the outside air temperature sensor circuit  

    Is DTC B1228, Error on the DTC screen A-A2 (climate control panel without display), or DTC screen 06 (climate control panel with display) indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure. Check for loose wires or poor connections on the outside air temperature sensor circuit.

  2. Shorted wire check (TAM line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Climate control unit connector A (32P)
    Outside air temperature sensor 2P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Climate control unit connector A (32P): disconnected
    Outside air temperature sensor 2P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Climate control unit connector A (32P) No. 11
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The TAM wire is not shorted. Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the TAM wire.

  3. Shorted wire check (TAM line to SENSOR_COM line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Climate control unit connector A (32P): disconnected
    Outside air temperature sensor 2P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Climate control unit connector A (32P) No. 11
    Test point 2 Climate control unit connector A (32P) No. 12

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The TAM wire and the SENSOR_COM wire are OK. Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the TAM wire to the SENSOR_COM wire.

  4. Outside air temperature sensor check

    -1. Test the outside air temperature sensor .

    Is the outside air temperature sensor OK?

    YES 

    Replace the climate control unit .

    NO 

    Replace the outside air temperature sensor .
