DTC (AC)
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
-3. Display audio type: Set the A/C icon and the fan control icon or the fan control button to ON.
Color audio type: Set the A/C button and the fan control button to ON.
-4. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
-5. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS or the climate control unit .
-6. Check for the climate control unit DTCs.
DTC Description DTC B296D Electric heater coolant Pump Communication Fail Is DTC B296D, Error on the DTC screen D-A2 (climate control panel without display), or DTC screen 68 (climate control panel with display) indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
- Fuse check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. A23 Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, repair a short in the No. A23 fuse circuit.
- Relay circuit board check
-1. Remove the relay circuit board from the under-hood fuse/relay box, and test it .
Is the relay circuit board OK?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
- Open wire check (+B A/C WATER PUMP line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector C (18P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector C (18P) (female terminals) No. 15: Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B A/C WATER PUMP wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open in the +B A/C WATER PUMP wire.
- Open wire check (IG2_A/C line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Relay circuit board connector C (18P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector C (18P) (female terminals) No. 6: Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG2_A/C wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the IG2_A/C wire.
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector C (18P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector C (18P) (female terminals) No. 8: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 7.
NO
Check for an open in the GND wire. If the wire is OK, check for poor ground at G351.
- Determine possible failure area (EWP_PWM line, A/C_WATER_PUMP line)
-1. Reinstall the relay circuit board
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector (female terminals) No. 3: Is there battery voltage?
YES
The A/C_WATER_PUMP wire is OK. Go to step 8.
NO
Go to step 10.
- Open wire check (EWP_PWM line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Climate control unit connector A (32P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Climate control unit connector A (32P): disconnected Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Climate control unit connector A (32P) No. 3 Test point 2 Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector (female terminals) No. 2: Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The EWP_PWM wire is not open. Go to step 9.
NO
Repair an open in the EWP_PWM wire.
- Shorted wire check (EWP_PWM line)
-1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Climate control unit connector A (32P): disconnected Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Climate control unit connector A (32P) No. 3 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Replace the electric heater coolant pump , and recheck. If the DTC detected, replace the climate control unit .
NO
Repair a short to body ground in the EWP_PWM wire.
- Open wire check (A/C_WATER_PUMP line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Electric heater coolant pump 3P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Check for an open in the GND wire between the electric heater coolant pump and body ground. If the wire is OK, check for poor ground at G351
NO
Repair an open in the A/C_WATER_PUMP wire.
