DTC B2890-13 : An open in the acoustic vehicle alerting speaker circuit
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A .

DTC (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Control Unit)
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
-3. Wait for at least 20 seconds.
-4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC B2890-13 An open in the acoustic vehicle alerting speaker circuit Is DTC B2890-13 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- AUDIBLE SPKR+, AUDIBLE SPKR- lines output check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector -3. Raise the vehicle on a lift.
-4. Turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode.
-5. Shift the transmission to D position/mode, release the brake pedal but do not operate the accelerator pedal.
NOTICE: Do not put on the brake hard when working on a running vehicle on a lift. It may cause some damage to the drive-line.
-6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle READY TO DRIVE mode
Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2: NOTE: The output voltage changes depending on vehicle speed.
Is there about 5 V?
YES
Replace the acoustic vehicle alerting speaker .
NO
Go to step 3.
- Open wire check (AUDIBLE SPKR+, AUDIBLE SPKR- lines)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 respectively.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector: disconnected
Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2: Test point 2 Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector No. 3 Test point 1 Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector No. 4 Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
Replace the acoustic vehicle alerting control unit .
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
