Cooling Fan Controls Symptom Troubleshooting Index

Symptom	Diagnostic Procedure	Also check for
Engine overheats	Check the coolant level . Check for any engine coolant leakage (from gaskets, hoses, O-rings, etc.). Check for dirt, leaves, or insects on the radiator and the A/C condenser. Check for deteriorated coolant. Check for a damaged or deformed fan shrouds. Check the fan motors are operating properly (air should be blowing toward the engine). Inspect the fan motors or fan relays . 1.5 L engine: Check the expansion tank cap . 2.4 L engine: Check the radiator cap . Check the thermostat . Inspect the water pump . Check for clogged radiator. Check for plugged or deteriorated radiator hoses. Check for a plugged heater core or hoses. Check for a damaged cylinder head gasket.	Check the radiator and A/C condenser fans are operating properly
The radiator fan does not run at high speed	Radiator fan high speed circuit troubleshooting .	Check the connectors are properly connected and the terminals are making good contact
Both the radiator fan and the A/C condenser fan do not run at low speed	Radiator and A/C condenser fans low speed circuit troubleshooting .	Check the connectors are properly connected and the terminals are making good contact
The A/C condenser fan does not run at high speed	A/C condenser fan high speed circuit troubleshooting .	Check the connectors are properly connected and the terminals are making good contact
