USB device does not function

NOTE: 

  1. Determine possible failure area (USB device, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.

    Does the USB device work properly in the known-good vehicle?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    See the Owner's Manual for details about the USB device requirements and approved file types.

  2. Problem verification 1

    -1. On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB port A.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Check the USB device operation in the customer's vehicle.

    Does the USB device work properly in the customer's vehicle?

    YES: With USB port B

    Go to step 3.

    YES: Without USB port B

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Inspect the connectors of the USB device and USB port for wear.

    NO: With USB port B

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 4.

    NO: Without USB port B

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 5.

  3. Problem verification 2

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the customer's USB device from the USB port A.

    -3. Connect the customer's USB device to the USB port B.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Check the USB device operation in the customer's vehicle.

    Does the USB device work properly in the customer's vehicle?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Inspect the connectors of the USB device and USB port for wear.

    NO 

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 6.

  4. Determine possible failure area (USB1 line, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the customer's USB device from the USB port A.

    -3. Connect the customer's USB device to the USB port B located in the center console.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Check the USB device operation in the customer's vehicle.

    Does the USB device work properly in the customer's vehicle?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    NO: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

  5. Open wire check (USB1 lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector F (5P) (with navigation)Audio unit connector F (5P) (without navigation)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector F (5P) (with navigation): disconnected Audio unit connector F (5P) (without navigation): disconnected
    Test point 1:Audio-navigation unit connector F (5P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector F (5P) (without navigation)

    Test point 2:USB port A 5P connector (female terminals):
    No. 1 No. 1
    No. 2 No. 4
    No. 3 No. 2
    No. 4 No. 3

    Is there continuity?

    YES: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    YES: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  6. Open wire check (USB2 lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector G (5P) (with navigation)Audio unit connector G (5P) (without navigation)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector G (5P) (with navigation): disconnected Audio unit connector G (5P) (without navigation): disconnected
    Test point 1:Audio-navigation unit connector G (5P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector G (5P) (without navigation)

    Test point 2:USB port B 5P connector (female terminals):
    No. 1 No. 1
    No. 2 No. 4
    No. 3 No. 2
    No. 4 No. 3

    Is there continuity?

    YES: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    YES: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.
