Pinpoint Test E : The Roof Opening Panel Sliding Glass Does Not Open Or Close: Notes
Refer to ROOF OPENING PANEL for schematic and connector information.
The roof opening panel must be initialized when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel system or when the roof opening panel motors, glass, assembly, or air deflector has been removed or replaced for any reason. REFER to: Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The roof opening panel primary motor receives voltage from the accessory delay relay when the ignition is in the ACC or RUN position. The overhead console switch supplies signals to the roof opening panel primary motor to operate the roof opening panel. When the primary motor receives the signal, it communicates with the roof opening panel secondary motor and the roof opening panel shield motor along the K-Bus communication circuit. A failure in the power circuit, ground circuit, switch signal circuit or K-Bus circuit, an internal failure of the switch, primary motor, secondary motor or shield motor, or a motor that has not been initialized all cause the roof opening panel to become inoperative.
When the ignition is in RUN or ACC, the BCM activates the accessory delay relay by grounding the relay coil. When the ignition is set to OFF, the BCM continues to ground the accessory delay relay coil for approximately 10 minutes, or until a front door is opened. When the accessory delay relay is active, it supplies voltage to the roof opening panel system.
