Pinpoint Test C : The Roof Opening Panel Rattles

C1 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING SLIDING GLASS PANEL TIGHTNESS
- Open the roof opening sliding glass panel.
- Manually push up, and then fore and aft on the roof opening sliding glass panel.
Is the roof opening sliding glass panel loose?

Yes ALIGN the roof opening panel. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Alignment - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

No GO to C2

C2 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MAIN COMPRESSION SEAL

NOTE: Make sure the seal is secured in place, not cut, cracked, pinched, loose or obstructed in closed, vent and open positions.
- Check the roof opening panel main compression seal.
Is the seal OK?

Yes GO to C3

No INSTALL a new roof opening panel main compression seal.

C3 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CABLES AND GUIDES

Lower the head liner. REFER to: Headliner .

Verify the roof opening sliding glass panel cable and guide assemblies, and the roof opening panel shield cable and guide assemblies are securely fastened and free from any damage. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Operating Cable and Guide - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Shield Operating Cable and Guide - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

Are the cable and guide assemblies OK?

Yes

GO to C4

TIGHTEN the fasteners to their correct torque specification or INSTALL new cable and guide assemblies as necessary. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Operating Cable and Guide - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Shield Operating Cable and Guide - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

C4 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SHIELD

Verify the roof opening panel shield is correctly installed and free from damage. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Shield - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

Is the roof opening panel shield OK?

Yes

GO to C5

No	REINSTALL or INSTALL a new roof opening panel shield as necessary. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Shield - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

C5 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL AIR DEFLECTOR

Verify the air deflector is correctly installed and free from damage.

Is the air deflector OK?

Yes

GO to C6

No	REINSTALL or INSTALL a new air deflector as necessary. REFER to: Air Deflector - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

C6 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL ASSEMBLY FOR RATTLES

Check the roof opening panel assembly for any loose parts or for any condition that will cause rattles.

Are there any conditions that cause rattles?

Yes	INSTALL a suitable sound damper material to correct the condition. If the rattle still persists, INSTALL a new roof opening panel frame. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Frame - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

No	INSPECT other areas of the vehicle that may cause rattles in the roof area, such as the headliner, roof opening panel motor wiring harness, overhead console, rear wiper hose to headliner or rear dome light. REPAIR as necessary.
