DTC (PGM-FI)

  1. CAN gateway system DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

    Are any DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the troubleshooting for CAN gateway system DTC(s) .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. F-CAN circuit communication check (Receiving control unit)

    -1. Select the Function Test in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    Which result is indicated?

    Bus A is Not Available 

    Go to step 3.

    Bus B is Not Available 

    Go to step 4.

    Bus A and B are Available 

    Go to step 5.

  3. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    PCM connector A (50P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCM. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM , then recheck. If the indicated DTC goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36, A37) and the CAN gateway.

  4. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line, F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    PCM connector A (50P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are OK. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCM. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM , then recheck. If the indicated DTC goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire or the F-CAN B_L wire between the PCM (A38, A39) and the CAN gateway.

  5. F-CAN circuit communication check (Transmitting control unit)

    -1. Select the Function Test in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    -2. According to the detected DTC on the following table, make sure that the transmitting control unit detects the CAN gateway Bus channel(s) normally.

    Is it detected normally?

    Detected normal 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

    U0104: Multipurpose camera unit is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

    U0104: Multipurpose camera unit is Not Available for Bus C 

    Go to step 9.

    U010F: Climate control unit is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U0122: VSA modulator-control unit is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

    U0122: VSA modulator-control unit is Not Available for Bus C 

    Go to step 9.

    U0129: Electric servo brake control unit is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

    U0129: Electric servo brake control unit is Not Available for Bus C 

    Go to step 9.

    U0131: EPS control unit is Not Available for Bus C 

    Go to step 9.

    U0151: SRS unit is Not Available for Bus C 

    Go to step 9.

    U0155: Gauge control module is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

    U1207: Electric A/C compressor is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    Go to step 6.

  6. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    Is there continuity?

    YES (except U1603)

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute or replace the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U010F Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the climate control unit. Substitute a known-good climate control unit , then recheck. If DTC U010F goes away and the climate control unit was substituted, replace the original climate control unit .
    U1207 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the electric A/C compressor. Substitute a known-good electric A/C compressor , then recheck. If DTC U1207 goes away and the electric A/C compressor was substituted, replace the original electric A/C compressor .
    U12A4 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the electric coolant heater. Substitute a known-good electric coolant heater , then recheck. If DTC U12A4 goes away and the electric coolant heater was substituted, replace the original electric coolant heater .
    U1604 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU , then recheck. If DTC U1604 goes away and the PCU was substituted, replace the original PCU .
    U1605 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU , then recheck. If DTC U1605 goes away and the PCU was substituted, replace the original PCU .
    U1607 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the battery charge control module. Substitute a known-good battery charge control module , then recheck. If DTC U1607 goes away and the battery charge control module was substituted, replace the original battery charge control module .

    YES (U1603)

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

  7. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 2

    -1. Remove the IPU .

    -2. Remove the IPU cover .

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
      Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P): disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module A , then recheck. If DTC U1603 goes away and battery condition monitor module A was substituted, replace original battery condition monitor module A .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the IPU 33P connector and battery condition monitor module A.

  8. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line, F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    NOTE: Before disconnecting the battery charge control module connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    YES 

    The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute or replace the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U0104 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the multipurpose camera unit. Substitute a known-good multipurpose camera unit , then recheck. If DTC U0104 goes away and the multipurpose camera unit was substituted, replace the original multipurpose camera unit .
    U0122 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the VSA modulator-control unit. Substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0122 goes away and the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, replace the original VSA modulator-control unit .
    U0129 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the electric servo brake control unit. Substitute a known-good electric servo brake control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0129 goes away and the electric servo brake control unit was substituted, replace the original electric servo brake control unit .
    U0155 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the gauge control module. Substitute a known-good gauge control module , then recheck. If DTC U0155 goes away and the gauge control module was substituted, replace the original gauge control module .
    U1607 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the battery charge control module. Substitute a known-good battery charge control module , then recheck. If DTC U1607 goes away and the battery charge control module was substituted, replace the original battery charge control module .
    U160B Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the SBW shifter control module. Substitute a known-good SBW shifter control module , then recheck. If DTC U160B goes away and the SBW shifter control module was substituted, replace the original SBW shifter control module .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire or the F-CAN B_L wire between the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

  9. Open wire check (F-CAN C_H line, F-CAN C_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    NOTE: Before disconnecting the SRS unit connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and wait for at least 3 minutes.

    YES 

    The F-CAN C_H wire and the F-CAN C_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute or replace the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U0104 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the multipurpose camera unit. Substitute a known-good multipurpose camera unit , then recheck. If DTC U0104 goes away and the multipurpose camera unit was substituted, replace the original multipurpose camera unit .
    U0122 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the VSA modulator-control unit. Substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0122 goes away and the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, replace the original VSA modulator-control unit .
    U0129 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the electric servo brake control unit. Substitute a known-good electric servo brake control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0129 goes away and the electric servo brake control unit was substituted, replace the original electric servo brake control unit .
    U0131 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the EPS control unit. Substitute a known-good EPS control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0131 goes away and the EPS control unit was substituted, replace the original EPS control unit .
    U0151 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the SRS unit. Substitute a known-good SRS unit , then recheck. If DTC U0151 goes away and the SRS unit was substituted, replace the original SRS unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN C_H wire or the F-CAN C_L wire between the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

  10. Open wire check (F-CAN D_H line, F-CAN D_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    Battery charge control module connector B (40P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected

    YES 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good battery charge control module , then recheck. If DTC U1607 goes away and battery charge control module was substituted, replace original battery charge control module .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN D_H wire or the F-CAN D_L wire between the CAN gateway and the battery charge control module.
