D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Honda Odyssey, 2012 Honda Odyssey, and 2011 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  2. Disconnect the D3 switch connector, and test the D3 switch (see D3 SWITCH TEST  ).

    Does the switch test OK? 

    YES  -Go to step 3.

    NO  -Replace the D3 switch (see D3 SWITCH REPLACEMENT  ).

  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  4. Measure the voltage between D3 switch connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

    Is there battery voltage? 

    YES  -Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see PCM UPDATE ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE PCM ), and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM (see PCM REPLACEMENT ).

    NO  -Go to step 5.

  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  6. Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -Go to step 7.

    NO  -Repair an open in the wire between D3 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground (G403) (see GROUND TO COMPONENTS INDEX ), or repair poor body ground (G403).

  7. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  8. Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).
  9. Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -Repair a short to body ground in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch connector.

    NO  -Go to step 10.

  10. Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 2 and PCM connector terminal A17.

    Is there continuity?

    NO  -Repair an open in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch connector.
