D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the D3 switch connector, and test the D3 switch (see D3 SWITCH TEST
).
Does the switch test OK?
YES -Go to step 3.
NO -Replace the D3 switch (see D3 SWITCH REPLACEMENT ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between D3 switch connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

Is there battery voltage?
YES -Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see PCM UPDATE ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE PCM ), and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM (see PCM REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Go to step 5.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 7.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between D3 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground (G403) (see GROUND TO COMPONENTS INDEX ), or repair poor body ground (G403).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).
- Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to body ground in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch connector.
NO -Go to step 10.

Is there continuity?
