D4 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
Disconnect the D4 switch connector, and test the D4 switch (see D4 SWITCH TEST ).
Does the switch test OK?

YES -Go to step 3.

NO -Replace the D4 switch (see D4 SWITCH REPLACEMENT ).
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
Measure the voltage between D4 switch connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

Is there battery voltage?

YES -Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see PCM UPDATE ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE PCM ) and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM (see PCM REPLACEMENT ).

NO -Go to step 5.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
Check for continuity between D4 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES -Go to step 7.

NO -Repair an open in the wire between D4 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground (G403) (see CENTER LOWER CONSOLE SUBHARNESS (AC) ), or repair poor body ground (G403).
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).
Check for continuity between D4 switch connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES -Repair a short to body ground in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D4 switch connector.

NO -Go to step 11.
Check for continuity between D4 switch connector terminal No. 2 and PCM connector terminal A17.

Is there continuity?
