Pedal Height

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Disconnect brake pedal position switch connector, and turn position switch counterclockwise until it is no longer touching brake pedal. On vehicles with CVT, disconnect idle stop switch connector, and loosen idle stop switch until it is no longer touching brake pedal. On all vehicles, lift up carpet. At insulator cutout, measure pedal height from middle of pedal pad. See Fig 1. Loosen pushrod lock nut, and screw pushrod in or out with pliers until correct pedal height is obtained.

On manual transmission models, pedal height is 7.3" (184 mm). On automatic transmission models, pedal height is 7.4" (188 mm). On all models, tighten lock nut firmly. Do not adjust the pedal height with pushrod pressed. Push in brake pedal position switch until its plunger is fully pressed (threaded end touching pad on pedal arm). Then, turn switch 45° clockwise to lock it. The gap between brake pedal position switch and pad is automatically adjusted to .02-.12" (.4-3.0 mm) by locking switch. See Fig 2. Make sure brake lights go off when pedal is released. On vehicles with CVT, adjust idle stop switch. See IDLE STOP SWITCH (WITH CVT) . On all vehicles, check brake pedal free play. See FREE PLAY .
