Idle Stop Switch (With CVT)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: When either brake pedal position switch or idle stop switch needs adjusting, both switches must be adjusted together to keep their functions synchronized. Always adjust brake pedal position switch first, then adjust idle stop switch. NEVER adjust switches independently. When adjusted properly and the brake pedal is released, the brake pedal position switch is open (no continuity), and the idle stop switch is closed (continuity).

Screw in idle stop switch until its plunger is fully pressed (threaded end touching pad on pedal arm). See Figure. Back off switch 1/4 of a turn to make .01" (.3 mm) of clearance between threaded end and pad. Tighten lock nut firmly. Connect idle stop switch connector. When finished, start the engine, and warm it up to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on). Make sure the engine stops when the brake pedal is pressed. Check brake pedal free play. See FREE PLAY .
