Triggering Seat Belt TENSIONERS
- Before proceeding, See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disconnect battery cables. Ensure proper operation of Deployment Tool (07HAZ-SG00500) by connecting a 12-volt battery per instructions supplied with tool.
- Remove center pillar lower trim panel. Cut off seat belt tensioner connector and strip back 1" of insulation from wire ends. Connect Yellow alligator clips of deployment tool to uninsulated wire ends. Place deployment tool approximately 30 feet away from vehicle. See Figure .Repeat procedure on other seat belt.
- Connect a 12-volt battery to tool. If Red light on deployment tool comes on, go to next step. If Green light on deployment tool comes on, tensioner ignitor circuit is defective. See DAMAGED AIR BAG OR SEAT BELT TENSIONER SPECIAL PROCEDURE .
- Stand at least 30 feet away from vehicle. Push deployment switch to trigger tensioner ignitor. Tensioner should take up slack in belt, and lock in retracted position. If tensioner triggers, wait 30 minutes before removing and disposing of tensioner. If Green light comes on, but tensioner does not trigger, tensioner ignitor circuit is defective.
