Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Isuzu Rodeo and 2000 Isuzu Amigo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Check for faulty connections or damaged harness, backed out terminals or misrouted wiring harnesses. Correct any abnormal engine noises. Any audible noise that causes a knocking type noise on the engine block may be misinterpreted by knock sensor. Check for an open ignition feed. Scan tool will display knock sensor in counts, increasing with engine speed and decreasing when engine speed decreases. Check internal resistance of knock sensor to verify component or wiring type of problem in knock sensor circuit.
