Calipers & Wheel Cylinders (Manual Bleeding)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sport, 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, 2001 Honda Passport, 2000 Isuzu Rodeo, and 2000 Isuzu Amigo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Start engine and allow it to idle. Clean master cylinder cap and surrounding area, and then remove cap. Fill master cylinder. Install clear vinyl bleed hose onto first wheel cylinder or caliper bleed screw to be serviced. See BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE  table. Place other end of hose in clean transparent container.
  2. Partially fill container with clean brake fluid so end of hose is submerged in fluid. Slowly pump brake pedal 3 times and hold depressed. Loosen bleed screw until fluid flows through hose.
  3. Close bleed screw, and then release pedal. Pump pedal slowly several times to push air toward wheel cylinders or calipers. Repeat procedure until flow of brake fluid is clear and bubble free. Repeat procedure for each wheel.
