RH Cylinder Head Assembly
- Remove the engine and transmission assembly.
(Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY ")
- Remove the surge tank.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "SURGE TANK ")
- Remove the intake manifold.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "INTAKE MANIFOLD ")
- Remove the water cooled intercooler reservoir tank.
(Refer to Cooling System - "WATER COOLED INTERCOOLER COOLANT RESERVOIR TANK ")
- Remove the LH and RH cylinder head cover.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "CYLINDER HEAD COVER ")
- Remove the integrated thermal management module (ITM).
(Refer to Cooling System - "INTEGRATED THERMAL MANAGEMENT MODULE (ITM) ")
- Remove the water cooled intercooler.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "WATER COOLED INTERCOOLER ")
- Remove the water pump.
(Refer to Cooling System - "WATER PUMP ")
- Remove the idler.
(Refer to Drive Belt System - "IDLER ")
- Remove the drive belt tensioner.
(Refer to Drive Belt System - "DRIVE BELT TENSIONER ")
- Remove the crankshaft damper pulley.
(Refer to Drive Belt System - "CRANKSHAFT DAMPER PULLEY ")
- Remove the oil filter & oil cooler.
(Refer to Lubrication System - "OIL FILTER & OIL COOLER ")
- Remove the alternator.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "ALTERNATOR ")
- Remove the A/C compressor.
(Refer to Heating, Ventilation Air conditioning - "COMPRESSOR ")
- Remove the timing chain.
(Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN ")
- Remove the RH turbo charger & exhaust manifold assembly.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "TURBO CHARGER & EXHAUST MANIFOLD ")
- Remove the coolant pipe (A) by pulling it forward of the engine.
- Remove the RH camshaft front bearing cap (A) and camshaft bearing cap (B).
- Remove the RH intake CVVT & camshaft assembly (A) and RH exhaust CVVT & camshaft assembly (B).
- Remove the RH cam carrier (A).
- Remove the hydraulic lash adjuster (HLA) and swing arm (A).
Information
- When removing and reinstalling the Hydraulic Lash Adjuster (HLA) and the swing arm, keep them in pairs.
- Remove the RH spark plugs.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "SPARK PLUG ")
- Loosen the RH cylinder head bolts and remove the RH cylinder head.
- Remove the RH cylinder head bolts in several passes as shown in the below illustration.
NOTE:
- Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in an incorrect order.
- Lift the RH cylinder head (A) from the cylinder block and place it on the wooden block.NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block.
- Remove the RH cylinder head gasket (A).
- Remove the RH cylinder head bolts in several passes as shown in the below illustration.
