Installation Procedure
- Install the engine to the transmission. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive with LGX)
- Place the powertrain assembly on the frame.
- Transmission Mount Strut - Install - Transmission Mount Strut Replacement
Transmission Front Mount (4) - Install - Transmission Front Mount Replacement
- Place the powertrain and frame assembly on the engine support table.
- With the aid of an assistant, carefully lower the body to the frame. (1)
- Ensure the following components are clear from the frame:
- Vacuum lines
- Steering knuckles
- Electrical wiring harnesses
Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt (2) - Install NEW [4x] - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt (1) - Install [8x] - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement
- Remove the EN-48244 Engine Assembly Remove/Install Pallet Supporter from under the vehicle.
Connect the electrical connector on the steering gear and connect the wiring harness clip on the steering gear housing. (1)
Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Stabilizer Shaft - Install - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod (3) @ Steering Knuckle - Install - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
Front Lower Control Arm (1) @ Steering Knuckle - Install - Lower Control Arm Replacement
{If equipped} Front Suspension Automatic Forward Lighting Position Sensor (1) @ Front Lower Control Arm - Connect
Transmission Mount Bolt (3) - Install [4x] - Transmission Mount Replacement
Engine Mount Fastener (2) - Install NEW [3x] - Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side
- Position and connect harnesses as required.
- Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft @ Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Install - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side
- Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft @ Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Install - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
- NOTE:
Rotate engine clockwise using the crankshaft balancer bolt to gain access to each bolt.
Install the torque converter bolts (1). Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive with LGX)
- Starter - Install - Starter Replacement (LGX)
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe @ Transmission - Connect - Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX, with V08) , or Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX, without V08)
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe @ Transmission - Connect - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (LGX, with V08) , or Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (LGX, without V08)
Evaporative Emission Front Pipe (2) @ Retainer (1) - Install
- Evaporative Emission Front Pipe (2) @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Fuel Feed Pipe (1) - Connect - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Power Transfer Unit Case - Install - Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement (LGX)
- Install both warm up three-way catalytic converters. Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 1, LGX) , or Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 2, LGX)
- Install both front wheelhouse liners. Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement
- Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose (4) @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Install - Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement (LGX)
- Radiator Outlet Hose - Install - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX Radiator Outlet Hose Tee to Engine Oil Cooler) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX Radiator Outlet Hose Tee to Radiator) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX Radiator Outlet Hose Tee to Water Pump Inlet Pipe) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX without V08)
Radiator Inlet Hose (2) - Install - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LGX)
Heater Outlet Hose (3) @ Heater Core Tube - Connect - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX without C69 Heater Core Outlet Tube To Heater Outlet Hose Connector) , or Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX Auxiliary Water Pump to Heater Inlet and Outlet Pipe) , or Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX without C69 Heater Outlet Hose Connector to Radiator Surge Tank) , or Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX without C69 Heater Outlet Hose Connector to Auxiliary Water Pump)
Heater Inlet Hose (3) @ Heater Core Tube - Connect - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LGX without C69 Heater Core Inlet Tube to Heater Inlet and Outlet Pipe) , or Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LGX with C69)
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor (1) @ Power Brake Booster - Connect
Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose (3) @ Radiator Surge Tank - Install - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (2) @ Radiator Surge Tank - Install - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Transmission Vent Hose (1) @ Transmission - Connect
Position the automatic transmission range selector lever cable (4) to the automatic transmission range selector lever cable bracket.
- Install the automatic transmission range selector lever cable retaining fastener (3). Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
- Install the automatic transmission range selector lever cable (4) into the automatic transmission range selector lever cable lever.
Battery Tray (3) - Install - Battery Tray Replacement
- Air Cleaner Assembly - Install - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Gear - Connect - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing
- Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LGX) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 LGX)
- Recharge the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)

Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.
