Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement 
  2. Remove the instrument panel center air outlet duct. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Duct Replacement .
  3. Remove the windshield defroster outlet duct. Refer to Windshield Defroster Outlet Duct Replacement .
  4. Remove both of the instrument panel upper trim panel brackets:
  5. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  6. Remove the body control module bracket. Refer to Body Control Module Bracket Replacement .
  7. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
1 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Nut
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
2 Radio Speaker Amplifier Bolt
Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
3 Heater Bolt (Qty: 6)
Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
4 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Bolt (Qty: 2)
Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
5 Instrument Panel Bolt (Qty: 4)
Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
6 Instrument Panel Tie Bar

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  2. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness in order to ensure proper installation.
  3. Support the HVAC module in order to prevent damage.
  4. With the aid of an assistant remove the instrument panel tie bar assembly from the vehicle.
