Removal Procedure

- Remove Engine Front Cover Replacement
- Set the engine to top dead center (TDC).
- Inspect the timing chain marks (1, 2, and 3) to confirm they are properly aligned.
- Install camshaft holding tool EN-51367 (1).
- Reset the tensioner plunger (1). Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement
- Remove Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe Bolt (1)
- Remove Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe (2)
- Inspect, timing components as necessary. For camshaft timing chain, oil nozzle, sprocket and tensioner cleaning and inspection. Camshaft Timing Chain and Sprocket Cleaning and Inspection
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the timing chain from the sprockets.
