Removal Procedure

  1. Remove Engine Front Cover Replacement 
  2. Set the engine to top dead center (TDC).
  3. Fig 1: Timing Chain Marks

  4. Inspect the timing chain marks (1, 2, and 3) to confirm they are properly aligned.

  6. Install camshaft holding tool EN-51367  (1).

  8. Reset the tensioner plunger (1). Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement

  10. Remove Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe Bolt (1)
  11. Remove Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe (2)
  12. NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the timing chain from the sprockets.

  13. Inspect, timing components as necessary. For camshaft timing chain, oil nozzle, sprocket and tensioner cleaning and inspection. Camshaft Timing Chain and Sprocket Cleaning and Inspection
