Removal Procedure

    Fuel Feed Front Pipe (1) - Remove - Fuel Feed Front Pipe Replacement

  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without KL9)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With KL9) .
  3. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
  4. Drain the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
  5. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a)Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
  6. Remove the battery tray. Battery Tray Replacement

    Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable (3) - Disconnect - Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Replacement

  8. Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose @ Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Disconnect - Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV From Radiator Surge Tank to Radiator and Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Pipe)

    Disconnect the left and right sides. Left side shown, right side similar.

    Disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. (3) Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement

    NOTE:

    Front Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Front Stabilizer Shaft - Separate - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement

    Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1), then disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement

  24. Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LCV)
  25. Propeller Shaft - Remove - Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
  26. Left Front Wheel Drive Shaft - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  27. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft - Right Side - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)
  28. NOTE:

    During the powertrain removal support the vehicle body by placing a jack at the rear of the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Blocks of wood can be used between the front of the frame and the oil pan to table in order to level the powertrain during the removal.

  29. Position an engine support table under the powertrain assembly.
  30. With the table positioned, fully raise the table to contact with the powertrain assembly.

    Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Remove (Qty: 2) - Engine Mount Replacement

    Left Transmission Mount Bolt (3) - Remove (Qty: 3) - Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side

  33. NOTE:

    Remove ONLY the body to frame bolts as the powertrain will be removed while still bolted to the frame.

  34. Remove the frame to body bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (All Wheel Drive)
  35. Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary.
  36. Carefully lower the engine table and raise the body on the hoist until the engine/transaxle and frame are separated from the vehicle.
  37. Separate the engine from the transaxle. Transmission Replacement (AWD)
  38. Install the engine to a suitable engine stand.
