Removal Procedure

- Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the power brake booster vacuum reserve.
- Without disconnecting the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LGX with V08)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LCV)
- Disconnect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Electrical Connector
- Remove Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor (1)
- Disconnect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
- Remove Master Cylinder Nut (1) and DISCARD
- Without disconnecting the brake pipes, carefully remove and position aside the master cylinder.
- Remove {If equipped}Heater Coolant Pump Stud (1) - Heater Coolant Pump Replacement (LCV)
- Position the heater coolant pump and hoses aside.
- Release Fuel Injector Wiring Harness Retainer (1)
- Loosen Power Brake Booster Bolt (1)
- Remove Brake Pedal Position Sensor - Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
- With the aid of an assistant, hold the power brake booster away from the dash panel.
- Release Brake Pedal Retainer (1)
- Release Brake Pedal (2)
- Completely loosen the 2 power brake booster bolts.
- Remove Power Brake Booster (1)
- Inspect Power Brake Booster Seal (1) for damage
- Replace the power brake booster seal if damaged.
- Remove Brake Pedal Retainer (1) and DISCARD
NOTE:
Do NOT disconnect the heater coolant pump hoses.
NOTE:
Do NOT loosen the power brake booster bolts completely.
NOTE:
Pull the brake pedal rearward to release.
NOTE:
Insert a long, thin tool through the power brake booster pass-through from the engine compartment to remove the brake pedal retainer.
