Removal Procedure

Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .

CAUTION:

Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution .

  1. Remove the plenum front panel. Refer to Plenum Front Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the charge air cooler cover. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Cover Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the heater inlet pipe from only the heater core. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LF4) .
  4. Disconnect the heater outlet pipe from only the heater core. Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LF4) .
  5. Without removing the steering shafts from the vehicle, separate the upper intermediate steering shaft from the mid intermediate steering shaft. Refer to Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (RWD With LF4, LGX) .
  6. Using a suitable tool, remove and properly dispose of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.

  7. Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve secondary brake pipe fitting (1) at the master cylinder.
  8. Plug the master cylinder outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  9. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (LF4, LGX) .

  10. Release the brake pipe from the retaining clips (1).

  11. Release the brake pipe from the retaining clips (1) on the cowl.

  12. Release the brake pipe from the retaining clip (1).

  13. Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve secondary brake pipe fitting (1) at the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
  14. Plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  15. Remove the brake pressure modulator valve secondary brake pipe.
