Removal Procedure

Refer to Brake Dust Warning .

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Block the rear drive wheels.
  3. Disable the parking brake cable adjuster, if equipped. Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (With J77) Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Without J77) 
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V)
  5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series)

  6. Remove the parking brake shoe lower return spring <p01>. Parking Brake Shoe Replacement

  7. Lift the parking brake actuator lever spring clip (1).
  8. Disconnect the park brake cable from the actuator.

  9. Remove the parking brake actuator lever (1).
