Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Without J77)

Before any components of the parking brake system are serviced, the following procedure must be followed. Two technicians are required to perform this procedure, one inside the vehicle and one outside the vehicle.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
- Remove the left side underbody front air deflector. Refer to Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement - Left Side .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the left side instrument panel lower trim panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement (Left Side)Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement (Right Side) .
- Hold the pedal in the FULL upward position.
- Insert a thin tool (1) on an upward angle through the hole in the front of the pedal assembly.
- Pull rearward on the front park brake cable until the pedal drum (2) reaches its full reset position.
- Continue to insert the tool, past the retracted pedal drum, and into the hole in the back of the pedal assembly (3).
- Slowly release the cable.
- The automatic cable adjust feature is now disabled.
