Removal Procedure

WARNING:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning .
- Block the drive wheels.
- Disable the parking brake cable adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (With J77) Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Without J77) .
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
- Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series) .
- Remove the left rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JE5, J55)Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J6G) .
- Disconnect the parking brake rear cable (1) from the intermediate parking brake cable equalizer.
- Using the CH-37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool, release the rear parking brake cable (1) from the bracket on the rear frame.
- Feed the rear parking brake cable through the bracket (1) on the rear frame.
- Remove the parking brake cable bolt (1).
- Lift the parking brake shoe actuator lever spring (1).
- Using a small tool, lift the rear parking brake cable over and off of the parking brake cable actuator lever.
- Remove the rear parking brake cable from the vehicle.
