Installation Procedure

Transfer the rear side door outside handle bracket cable retainers (2) and lock cylinder blank to the new bracket.
Install the rear side door outside handle cable. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Cable Replacement .

NOTE:

Ensure that the counter balance is reset and locked in the detent of the handle bracket. The counter balance can't Not be reset after the latch and handle bracket has been reinstalled in the door.

Set the rear side door outside handle bracket counter balance (1) as follows:
1. The outside door handle can Not be install until the counter balance (1) is reset.
2. Grasp the rear side door outside handle bracket (2) with one hand.
3. From the back side of the counter balance (1), push forward until the counter balance locks into the detent of the handle bracket.

NOTE:

Bracket should be slid full rearward prior to tightening bracket screw.

Install the outside handle bracket (1) and the rear side door latch (2) assembly in the vehicle as one. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the rear side door outside handle bracket screw to the door (2) and tighten to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
Install the rear side door outside handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
Ensure that the door lock system operates properly before installing the trim.
