Removal Procedure

WARNING:

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

WARNING:

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury.

Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LCV) .

Remove the exhaust manifold fasteners (1).

Remove the exhaust support brace fastener (1) from the catalytic converter (2).
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor harness connector.

Remove the exhaust muffler fasteners (2) and remove the exhaust muffler (1) from the catalytic converter (4).
Discard the exhaust gasket (3).

NOTE:

If replacing the catalytic converter, transfer the catalytic converter brace to the NEW one.

Remove the catalytic converter brace fasteners (1) from the catalytic converter brace (2).
Lower the catalytic converter (3) to the floor.
Discard the catalytic to manifold seal.
Transfer part as necessary.
