Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Cadillac ATS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the NEW washer (1) on the wheel drive shaft (2).
- Install the wheel drive shaft (1) in the vehicle and through the wheel bearing/hub assembly.
- Install a NEW (Torque Prevailing) Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (2)
- Align the reference mark (1) on the wheel drive shaft (2) and the differential flange (3)
- Install NEW Wheel Drive Shaft Bolts (1) (Qty: 6)
- Install NEW Wheel Drive Shaft Washers (2) (Qty: 3). Do NOT reuse the old washers.
- Tighten the wheel drive shaft bolts.
Tighten
- First Pass: 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
- Final Pass: 45 degrees
- Tighten Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (2) to 250 N.m (185 lb ft).
- Install Upper Trailing Arm @ Knuckle. Refer to Trailing Arm Replacement (Upper)
- Install Upper Control Arm @ Knuckle. Refer to Upper Control Arm Replacement
- Install Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover. Refer to Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover Replacement
- Install Exhaust System. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LGX)
- Install the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series)
NOTE:
Do NOT reuse wheel drive shaft washer. Use a NEW washer only.
NOTE:
Do NOT reuse wheel drive shaft bolts or washers. Use NEW bolts and washers only.
CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:
Tighten the NEW torque prevailing wheel drive shaft nut slowly to draw the wheel drive shaft into the hub assembly prior to tightening to specifications.
