Removal Procedure

- Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)
- Remove Engine Compartment Lower Noise Shield. Refer to Engine Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
- Remove Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive)Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
- {If equipped} Separate Electronic Suspension Front Position Sensor @ Front Lower Control Rear Link. Refer to Electronic Suspension Front Position Sensor Replacement
- Loosen the steering knuckle nut (1).
Do NOT remove the nut.
- Use the CH-42188-B separator (1) to separate the front lower control rear link from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the steering knuckle nut (1).
- Remove the front lower control rear link nut (1).
- Remove the front lower control rear link bolt (3).
DISCARD the bolt.
- Remove the front lower control rear link (2) from the steering knuckle.
- Transfer components as necessary.
NOTE:
Do NOT allow the ball stud on the steering knuckle to rotate while loosening the steering knuckle nut.
CAUTION:
Use caution when removing components surrounding the Steering Gear Boots. Avoid tool contact with the steering gear boot and clamps. Damage to the steering gear boot may lead to dirt and water contamination in the steering gear rack and components requiring a preventable replacement of the Steering Gear and its Components.
