Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement 
    2. Fig 1: Crankshaft Balancer

  2. Remove the crankshaft balancer (1). Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Except North America) Crankshaft Balancer Replacement

  3. Remove the drive belt tensioner (1). Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement 
  4. Disconnect the wire harness retainers from the front cover.

    NOTE:

    Only bolts 3, 5 and 6 will be replaced with NEW bolts.

  5. Remove and DISCARD Engine Front Cover Bolt (3, 5 and 6)
  6. Remove Engine Front Cover Bolt (2-7, 9)
  7. Remove Engine Front Cover (1)
  8. If reusing the engine front cover, remove and DISCARD the crankshaft front oil seal (8) using an appropriate tool.
  9. Clean the engine block and cylinder head to front cover sealing surfaces.
  10. Clean the front cover sealing surface.
