Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Except North America)

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Install the EN-50792  Flywheel Holding Tool.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement (LCV, LTG) .

Special Tools

  • EN-50792  Flywheel Holding Tool
  • EN-45059  Angle Meter.
  • EN-41816  Crankshaft Balancer Remover.
  • J-41816-2  Crankshaft End Protector
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
1 Crankshaft Bolt
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

CAUTION:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

Procedure

  1. Install the J-41816-2  Crankshaft End Protector to the nose of the crankshaft prior to installing the EN-41816  to remove the balancer.
  2. Use the old bolt to seat the balancer.
  3. Install a NEW crankshaft bolt.

Tighten 
150 N.m (111 lb ft) plus 140 degrees using the EN-45059  Angle Meter.
