Cooling System Leak Testing

- Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LF4)Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LGX) .
- Orientate the air charge air coolant (CAC) quick connect fitting to the vertical position. Refer to Intake Manifold Vacuum Fitting Replacement (LF4) .
- Remove the CAC quick connect vacuum fitting cap.
- Install Cooling System Pressure Tester Cap Adapter (4) to EN-24460-A Cooling System Pressure Tester (5).
- Install GE-47716-8 Vac-N-Fill Cap (3) to Cooling System Pressure Tester Cap Adapter (4).
- Install GE-50389 Coolant Pressure Test Quick Connector (2) to GE-47716-8 Vac-N-Fill Cap (3).
- Install GE-47716-30 Vac-N-Fill Adapter (1) to GE-50389 Coolant Pressure Test Quick Connector (2).
- Apply 5 psi pressure to the charge air cooler system for at least 2 minutes.
- Observe the gauge for any pressure loss and repair any leaks as required.
WARNING:
Under pressure, the temperature of the solution in the radiator can be considerably higher, without boiling. Removing the radiator cap while the engine is hot (pressure is high), will cause the solution to boil instantaneously, with explosive force. The solution will spew out over the engine, fenders, and the person removing the cap. Serious bodily injury may result. Flammable antifreeze, such as alcohol, is not recommended for use at any time. Flammable antifreeze could cause a serious fire.
WARNING:
In order to help avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and the radiator are hot. Scalding fluid and steam can be blown out under pressure if the cap is removed too soon.
