WARNING:
Do not repair or replace the seat stitching or seams in the seat back trim cover with an internal mounted seat side airbag module. Replace the complete seat back trim cover from the OEM. Non-OEM seat stitching may cause improper airbag deployment which could result in personal injury.
Preliminary Procedures
- Remove the front seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement .
- Remove the driver or passenger seat back cushion finish panel. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement .
- Remove the front seat head restraint guide. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement .
- Remove the front seat back recliner outer trim panel. Refer to Front Seat Back Recliner Outer Trim Panel Replacement .

Front Seat Back Cushion Cover Procedure
- Disengage the j-channel retainers from the seat back cushion frame.
- Disengage the lower closeout panel pushpin retainers from the seat back cushion frame.
- Remove the lower close out panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors that attach to the seat back cushion, if equipped.
- Remove the inflatable restraint side impact module nuts (2).
- Disconnect the airbag electrical harness from the seat cushion frame and note the routing for install.
- Remove the seat back cushion cover, pad airbag and harness as an assembly.
- Slide the inflatable restraint side impact module out of the chute. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement
.
- Remove the hog rings in order to pull the cover away from the pad.
