Pickup Box Replacement

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe housing from the pickup box. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Housing Replacement .
  2. Remove the endgate. Refer to Endgate Replacement (Pickup Box) .
  3. Remove the tail lamps. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement (GMC) or Tail Lamp Replacement (Chevrolet) .
  4. Disconnect all electrical connectors and wiring harnesses from the pickup box.
1 Pickup Box Bolt (Qty: 8)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  85 N.m (63 lb ft)

2 Pickup Box
Tip: 
  • Use help as needed to remove the pickup box.
  • Use the alignment pins on the frame of the vehicle to help reinstall the pickup box.
  • Transfer any parts as needed if replacing the pickup box.
