Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Replacement

Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Replacement

CAUTION: Refer to Brake Dust Caution .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
1 Adjuster Spring
Tip:  Retract the brake shoe adjuster to ease removal of the adjuster spring. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
2 Adjuster Lever
3 Brake Shoe Adjuster

Procedure

  1. Clean and apply high temperature brake lubricant to the adjuster threads.
  2. Adjust the drum brakes. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
