Parking Brake Actuator Replacement (JD9)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the park brake shoe. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (JD9)  or Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (JH6, JH7) .
  4. Disconnect the park brake cable from the actuator lever.

2 Park Brake Actuator Lever Push Rod
3 Park Brake Actuator Adjuster Screw
4 Park Brake Lever Release Pawl
5 Park Brake Actuator Return Spring

Procedure

  1. Rotate the park brake adjuster screw until the adjuster is fully retracted.
  2. Enable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .
  3. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Drum Brake)  or Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Disc Brake)  or Parking Brake Adjustment (2500/3500 SRW)  or Parking Brake Adjustment (3500 DRW) .
