Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drum brake adjusting hardware. Refer to Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Replacement .

  3. Remove the brake shoe hold down springs and cups (1).

    Compress the spring and rotate the assembly 1/4 turn to remove from the hold down pins.

  5. Remove the lower brake shoe spring (1).

  7. Rotate the primary brake shoe (1) outward, disengage the return spring from the brake shoe web and remove the primary brake shoe.

  9. Remove the brake shoe return spring (1).
  10. Inspect and replace any missing, worn, or damaged drum brake hardware. Refer to Drum Brake Hardware Inspection .
