Preliminary Procedures Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling . Remove the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement . Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel with defroster nozzle. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (without RPO SLT) . Remove the radio front speaker, if equipped. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement . Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (without RPO SLT) . Remove the left instrument panel air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (with RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (without RPO SLT) . Remove the headlamp switch bezel assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Bezel Replacement (with RPO SLT) . Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Without RPO SLT) or Instrument Cluster Replacement (With RPO SLT) . Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Without HP2) or Steering Column Replacement (HP2) . Remove the instrument panel center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (with RPO SLT) . Remove the instrument panel accessory switch assembly. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Accessory Switch Replacement (without RPO SLT) . Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement . Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (With RPO SLT) or Radio Replacement (Without RPO SLT) . Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint. Refer to Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement . Remove the right instrument panel air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side (Without RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side (With RPO SLT) . Remove the instrument panel compartment door. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement (With RPO SLT) . Remove the instrument panel access hole cover panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (without RPO SLT) .
1	Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bolt (Qty: 4) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten: 9 N.m (80 lb in)
2	Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Screw (Qty: 27) Tighten: 2 N.m (18 lb in)
3	Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Assembly Tip: Prior to removal of the trim panel from the carrier assembly, note the routing of the wiring to aid in reassembly. Disconnect electrical connections. With the aid of an assistant, remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
