Linear Shift Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)

- Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM in SIR.
- Remove the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle (With Tow/Haul Switch) or Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle (Without Tow/Haul Switch) .
- Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift Snap On Shrouds) or Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift) .
- Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
- The steering column lock cylinder set should be in the OFF-LOCK position.
- Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.
- Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control connector from the park position switch assembly.
- Slide the park position switch assembly off of the linear shift assembly.
- Remove the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column.
- Use a small screwdriver to pry the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column jacket assembly.
- Remove the 3 TORX® screws from the linear shift assembly.
- Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column support assembly.

NOTE:
Do not use excessive force when removing the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column. Using excessive force may cause damage to the automatic transmission shift lock control and/or the steering column.
