  1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .

    Important:  Let the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil hang freely after removal.

  2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  3. Remove the bearing retainer using J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  .
  4. Remove the J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  .
  5. Discard the bearing retainer.
  6. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft assembly:
    1. 6.1. The cam orientation plate (4)
    2. 6.2. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (3)
    3. 6.3. The upper bearing spring (2)
    4. 6.4. The thrust washer (1)
