Blower Motor Always On

NOTE:
Definition: The blower motor is on while the mode switch is in the OFF position.
- Did you review DESCRIPTION & OPERATION and perform the necessary inspections? If so, go to next step. If not, see DESCRIPTION , OPERATION and TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Turn ignition off. Turn mode switch to OFF position. If blower motor continues to operate, go to next step. If blower motor does not continue to operate, problem is intermittent. Check for faulty connections or damaged wiring harness. Repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor resistor/relay harness connector. Using test light connected to ground, probe each blower motor resistor/relay harness connector terminal. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 5. If test light illuminates at any circuit, go to next step.
- Check White wire between HVAC control assembly connector terminals "A" and "G" for short to voltage. Also check suspect wire from step 3 that caused test light to illuminate for short to voltage. Repair wire(s) as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step 9. If wires are okay, go to step 6.
- Check for poor connections or connector damage at blower motor resistor/relay harness connector. Repair or replace as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step 9. If connections are okay, go to step 7.
- Check for poor connections or connector damage at HVAC control assembly harness connectors. Repair or replace as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step 9. If connections are okay, go to step 8.
- Replace blower motor resistor assembly. See BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step 9.
- Replace HVAC control assembly. See HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Operate blower system to verify repair. If blower operates normally, repair is complete. If blower motor is still operates continuously, return to step 2.
