Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
  2. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .

  3. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM in SIR.
  4. Remove the radio, if equipped. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the bolts that retain the remote keyless entry (RKE) module to the carrier.
  6. Remove the RKE module from the carrier.
  7. Remove the heater control assembly. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  8. Remove the nuts that retain the assist handle from the passenger's side of the instrument panel.
  9. Remove the screws that retain the cluster to the instrument panel carrier.

  10. Pull the cluster from the instrument panel.

  11. Remove the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) CLUSTER .
  12. Remove the nuts and bolts that retain the instrument panel steering column reinforcement bracket to the instrument panel carrier.
