Cylinder Head: Installation

- To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure cylinder head gasket is installed with identification number facing away from cylinder block.
- Install and tighten cylinder head bolts to specification in sequence using 4 steps. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Refer to Figure.CAUTION: No. 9 cylinder head bolt must be tightened to specification after all other bolts are tightened in sequence to specification.
- When tightening cylinder head bolts that required additional 1/4 turn, torque should exceed 90 ft. lbs. (122 N.m). Replace cylinder head bolt if torque does not exceed specification.
- To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Ensure proper procedure is followed when installing rocker arm assembly and push rods. See ROCKER ARMS & PUSH RODS .
- Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING .
