Thrust Bearing

  1. Thrust bearing is located on No. 2 main bearing. Replace thrust bearing if crankshaft end play is not within specification. See CRANKSHAFT, MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS SPECIFICATIONS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. To obtain the correct thrust bearing alignment, install all main bearing cap bolts finger tighten. Tighten main bearing cap bolts to specification on No. 1, 3 and 4 main bearing caps. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Pry crankshaft toward rear of cylinder block, and then back toward front of cylinder block. Hold crankshaft in forward position. Tighten main bearing cap bolts to specification on No. 2 main bearing cap.
