Service Precautions

Due to high-pressure requirements of CNG system, stainless steel, double-ferrule, compression-type fuel line fittings are used on high-pressure fuel lines. High-pressure fittings with "O" ring are used on high-pressure side of the system at manual shutoff valve and fuel line between front 3 fuel control valves. The low-pressure fuel line is used between fuel rail and low-pressure shutoff solenoid, located on passenger's side strut tower, near power steering fluid reservoir. Following precautions should be observed when servicing fuel lines and fittings:

• Fuel line pressure must be released before servicing fuel lines. See FUEL LINE PURGING  and FUEL CYLINDER PURGING  .
• Use only original equipment replacement components. Fuel lines are under EXTREME high pressure. DO NOT  substitute fuel lines made of any other material other than original equipment.
• Two sizes of fuel lines are used, 1/4" and 3/8". ALWAYS use proper size fuel line.
• DO NOT  allow fuel line ends to become scratched or damaged, as leaks will occur.
• Check and remove burrs from end of fuel lines.
• DO NOT  attempt to loosen or tighten a fitting with fuel system under pressure.
• NEVER attempt to force fuel line into fitting or ferrule. Fuel line should fit easily.
• When installing fitting for low-pressure fuel line, apply Teflon sealant on threads of fitting before installing. Tighten fitting finger tight and then an additional 3/4 to 1 1/2 turns.
• ALWAYS use a wrench on fitting when loosening or tightening nut on fuel line to prevent fuel line from twisting.
• Lubricate "O" rings with Parker O-Lube(R) only. Use only "O" rings for CNG applications.
• ALWAYS perform fuel line and fitting leak test after servicing fuel line and fitting. See FUEL LINE & FITTING LEAK TEST .
